The discovery of optical filaments surrounding the central galaxy in A496 - Evidence for a cooling flow
Abstract
A system of optical filaments has been discovered surrounding the central galaxy in the X-ray cluster A496. This suggests that the intracluster gas in A496 is cooling and being accreted by that galaxy. Observations of the X-ray surface brightness and spectrum support this interpretation.
